Every season has a silver lining

Every season has a silver lining

So the summer is coming to an end – but it’s not all bad. We’ve just received some jackets to test from Columbia’s swanky looking new range and it’s got us pretty excited about the upcoming winter and ski season.

These new jackets from Columbia all have an amazing space-age looking silver polka dot lining called Omni-Heat lining. Columbia says this makes the jackets 20% warmer than Primaloft as the lining reflects the warmth your body generates back to it – while the spaces between the dots allow moisture dissipate to keep you comfortable.

We’ve tested it after getting good and cold after some sea swims and can certainly vouch for it so far. Now we can’t wait to try it in freezing conditions on the side of a snowy mountain. And Omni-Heat isn’t just restricted to jackets. You’ll find it across Columbia’s new range – in gloves, hats, boots, neck gaiters etc.

And the gear looks good too. We particularly like the lightweight windproof Alpine Attitude Down Jacket (€199.95) for women which has an 80/20 down and feather fill and will look good on or off the slopes! Our pick for the men is the Carabineer II Parka (RRP: €349.95) with a 700-fill goosedown insulated liner and the Alpine Attitude down jacket for the ladies (pictured here). It’s an interchange jacket meaning you really get three jackets for the price of one – a shell, a puffa-style line, or the a bombproof combo of the two.

And the funs not over yet. We’ll be checking out lots of other brands’ new lines over the coming weeks and months. We’ll keep you posted.
