Ice breakers!

The award for hardiest outdoors folk over the last few days might just go to Bundornan surf school Turf n Surf (www.turfnsurf.ie) and their students. Pictured here on a snowy Tullan Strand, the class was made up of college kids from New Jersey who are over in Ireland studying spots tourism. Clad in 5/3 Alder wetsuits as well as booties, gloves and hoods, the students crew endured close-to-freezing air temperatures and water temperature around 10 degrees Celcius in their bid to catch waves with instructors Ryan and Ciaran. If you’re not convinced about just how cold that is, check out this video of the lads rinsing the wetsuits after the session. Anyone for ice? Brr.

(No US college students were permanently harmed in the making of this photo or video. They were defrosted afterwards with soup and sandwiches back in the Turf n Surf lodge.)
