The Great Outdoors 2010 Junior Liffey Descent is taking place Saturday the 22nd of May at 1.00 pm. The race is restricted to participants who are under 18 and over 12 on January 1st, 2010 and who are registered members of the Irish Canoe Union. The race begins at the Salmon Leap Canoe Club, Leixlip, Co. Kildare and is due to finish at ICU training center at the strawberry beds.
All participants must collect their Race Number and Bib at the Salmon Leap Canoe Clubhouse on Saturday, May 22nd, 2010 before 12:00 noon. No participants will be allowed to enter the event without a Race Bib and Number. Great Outdoors Junior Liffey Descent T Shirts will be given out at the Finish when you return your Race Bib.
A race briefing will take place at 12:30. Race notes and rules will be on display at the start on the day of the race. ICU Rules will apply, where all participants must be members of a canoe club affiliated to the Irish Canoe Union.
It is the responsibility of clubs to ensure that all participants have adequate experience for the race and that their equipment is in proper condition. If any participants’ equipment is considered inadequate or insecure by scrutineers, approval to participate in the Descent will be withheld.
The Descent will finish approximately three hours after the start – competitors taking longer than this should leave the water.
