Professional surfers from around the world will compete in the inaugural 53 Degrees North Open Surf Championships in association with O’Neill from 22-26 June 2011. The event will be the first of its kind in Ireland. It will be held on an artificial wave which is created by a machine called a FlowRider.
53 Degrees North will host the event outside its store in Blanchardstown. Top surf teams from O’Neill, Oakley, Alder, Billabong, Oxbow, Animal and Roxy as well as leading Irish surfers will provide an impressive spectacle as they battle it out for a podium finish.
Members of the public will also be invited to surf on the never-ending wave which will cost €10 for 30 minutes. This will include instruction and rental of O’Neill wetsuits and boards. O’Neill has recently launched its leisure clothing line in Ireland which is exclusive to 53 Degrees North.
