Christmas Trailquest

Christmas Trailquest

27/12/2009 16:00to17/01/2010 16:00

The Christmas Trailquest is an adventure race which takes place in Seaforde in Co Down and combines mountain biking, orienteering and quite a bit of strategy at the same time.
Basically, control flags are scattered about hillsides and forestry and you have to visit as many as you can in the time allotted. The trick is choosing the best route to suit both your navigation and your biking skills as you definitely won’t have time to visit all of them.
This Christmas event is part of an increasingly popular Trailquest Winter
League which started in November. Run by Dromara CC, Cycling Ulster’s
Club of the Year for 2009, there are six events in total but prizes will be awarded for several categories, including best 3 and best 4 times, as well as overall league prizes so there’s still plenty of time to get involved. Even if you don’t have a competitive streak people will be welcome to attend even one of the Trailquests.
With entry categories for singles, teams, families and juniors, everyone
is welcome. An added bonus is that proceeds from the league go to the
Northern Ireland Cancer Funds, Children’s Home Shimna Valley.
