Fancy tackling Ireland’s newest and muckiest running event? The Run-A-Muck Challenge is a cross-country running event over a wet and mucky course with various manmade and natural obstacles including bale jumps, cargo nets scrambles, sand pit slogs, ditches, streams, bridges, tyres and tunnels designed to test your mental and physical strength, and to leave you with a great sense of achievement and a big grin on your face.
It can be competed solo, as a relay pair (Durty Duo) or as a team of any number of 3 or more. And there are two distances on offer: Muckers (1 lap of the course) or Serious Muckers (2 laps of the course). Each lap is about 5km and is expected to take between 25 and 50 minutes to complete. The two-person Durty Duo class is designed to allow each member of the pair to compete at their own level for one lap of the course.
The event takes place on the grounds of Clonkerran house near Johnstown Bridge, Co Kildare, on Saturday 13 March at 11am. Entry costs €25 between 1 January and 28 February and €30 for late entries after 1 March. Be assured Run-A-Muck is not a regular road or cross country event and should not be given a miss.
