Wheelworx Duathlon Series

Wheelworx Duathlon Series

21/02/2010 15:00to14/03/2010 15:00

Naas Triathlon Club is holding its duathlon race series again this year on Punchestown Race Course. Sponsored by Wheelworx, the next races are due to take place on Sunday 21 February and Sunday 14 March.

These events comprise three legs: the first run is 3.5km around the Punchestown ambulance road which follows the race track. Afterwards you’ll head off for a 20km bike ride to Blessington and back. It includes a 6.2km climb (276m in elevation) which is not exactly steep but no doubt you will feel it in the legs as you climb. After that it’s back on your own two feet for another 3.5km run along the same route as the first.

This race will be chipped which means you’ll get split times for the first run, the cycle and the second run. Marshalls and gardai will be on duty at each junction to direct you so you won’t go astray. However, it’s important to note that the roads are not closed to traffic so normal rules of the road apply.

This is a non drafting race so you must leave a gap of 7mX3m between you and other competitors. Finally Triathlon Ireland membership is needed to race. If you do not have a current membership you will have to buy a one-day licence in advance for insurance purposes at www.triathlonireland.com.
