At first our reviewer found that she had great difficulty in getting the boat to track straight unless using the skeg. After a little practice, she found that the problem was hers, not the boat’s, and was soon was whizzing along in a straight line once she got the knack of it.
The Charleston’s multi-chined hull allows for exceptional secondary stability, lean turns and carving. However, it would be nice if the skeg was spring-loaded as it felt a little sticky. Our reviewer loved the aircore inflatable lumbar and ass support. She said it made for one of the most comfortable kayak seats she’s ever sat in.
The Charleston is an extremely comfortable recreation kayak with a padded seat, adjustable thigh braces, adjustable backrest and adjustable footrests. It’s a great boat for beginners with a roomy cockpit and wide stable hull.
