A throw bag is an invaluable safety tool for when you are out on any kind of water. Thrown from the bank or from another boat to someone in difficulty in the water, brightly coloured rope comes streaming out of the bag and floats so that it can be easily seen and grabbed by a paddler who has capsized and is now swimming.
The Salamander Golden Retriever (€90) is the benchmark for all other bags. A carabiner on the bag is used for clipping it to your buoyancy aid or your boat. It has another separate pocket to keep the carabiner both handy but tidy and to protect any swimmers if it is thrown.
The bag itself is made of durable 500D Cordura and has a webbing belt with a quick-release buckle, so your bag is always handy and doesn’t need to be rooted out of your kayak or gear storage area prior to use. It comes tied standard with a 16.15m throw line and a 2.4m tow tether.
