Nikki Bradley named as a ‘2017 Woman of Achievement’
Ireland’s Nikki Bradley is to attend the Annual Women of the Year Lunch, where her work in raising awareness for Ewing’s Sarcoma through her fitness based campaign ‘Fighting Fit For Ewing’s’ (FFFE) will be celebrated. The Donegal local will join 400 other honorees, as a ‘2017 Woman of Achievement’. The luncheon recognizes and celebrates inspiring women who are making a huge difference in their own way.
Nikki was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer (Ewing’s Sarcoma) at the age of 16. After receiving the news that she would remain on crutches permanently and may face full right leg amputation, she started the FFFE campaign. Since then she has undertaken several incredible challenges to both raise awareness for the rare disease and highlight the importance of exercise for rehabilitation. Some of those challenges include; completing the Fan Dance Race Series, a grueling 24km trek through the Brecon Beacon in Wales, a Guinness World Record in Holland, climbing a route of the Sólheimajökull glacier in Iceland, abseiling into a 45 foot ice cave, numerous mountain climbs and becoming the first woman to abseil off Fanad Head Lighthouse.
In response to the news, Nikki said: ‘I am absolutely honoured to be invited to such a prestigious event. I started my campaign to simply show others that we can do whatever we choose in life, despite disability. I never thought my actions would interest so many. It has been an amazing couple of years and I hope to continue to push myself in the hopes that others follow suit.’
This year’s event will take place on Monday 16 October 2017 at the InterContinental Hotel, Park Lane, London.
